Lienholder preparation guide

Impounded collateral requires a release plan before pickup.

Facility rules, authority, charges, documents, vehicle condition, transport needs, and destination instructions should be confirmed before a lender-directed recovery is scheduled.

Verify who holds the vehicle

Confirm the correct facility, its business hours, the general reason the vehicle is held when known, and the facility contact process. Exact location, account, VIN, and consumer information should move only through the approved lender channel.

Confirm authority and release requirements

The lender or authorized servicing party should determine what documentation the facility requires and who may sign or take custody. Requirements can differ by facility and circumstance, so assumptions should be checked directly before dispatch.

Resolve charges and payment instructions

Identify known towing, storage, administrative, release, or other charges; the approved payment method; and who is authorized to approve exceptions. LRS does not represent an amount as final until the holding facility confirms it.

Determine condition and transport fit

  • Keys or no-keys status
  • Known collision, tire, wheel, steering, suspension, or mobility concerns
  • Vehicle class and approximate dimensions
  • Personal-property or inventory procedure
  • Any loading, transport, or storage constraint disclosed by the facility

Set the post-release destination

The accepted assignment should identify where the collateral goes after release and who receives it. Auction, storage, repair, dealer, lender, or other destinations can involve different hours, documents, and handoff procedures.

Preserve a reviewable lender file

Release records, confirmed charges, condition photographs, custody details, exceptions, and destination information should remain connected to the authorized file. Public examples must remove client, consumer, vehicle, and location identifiers.

This guide is operational information, not legal advice. Facility and jurisdiction requirements should be verified for the specific file. Contact lenders@lrskc.com with general business questions only.
