Vendor-review checklist
Evaluate the recovery relationship—not just the rate.
A lender should be able to verify who accepts the assignment, where service is available, how protected data moves, what documentation returns, and how exceptions are escalated before the first live file.

1. Verify business identity and current credentials
Request the provider’s current legal business information and the credential package appropriate to your institution. Confirm dates, scope, named insureds, and any required vendor-network records directly rather than relying on website badges or old copies.
2. Match coverage to the actual assignment
A broad mileage statement does not guarantee acceptance. Review the city, county, collateral class, known access, transport or storage needs, and any time-sensitive client instruction before transmitting protected file details.
3. Inspect the data-security boundary
Public forms and general email should collect only business-contact and general capability questions. VINs, account numbers, debtor information, exact collateral locations, access instructions, and court documents belong in the lender-approved secure channel.
4. Define status, documentation, and escalation
- Who acknowledges and accepts assignments?
- Which status events and escalation conditions are reported?
- What condition photographs and recovery information return to the file?
- Who resolves coverage, damage, storage, release, or transport questions?
- How are corrections and urgent lender instructions recorded?
5. Review collateral and equipment fit
Passenger vehicles, motorcycles, commercial trucks, trailers, recreational assets, equipment, impound-lot files, and court-directed matters can require different access, loading, transport, storage, and documentation. Ask for a capability review instead of assuming every asset fits the same process.
6. Test the relationship before scaling
Use a controlled setup call, verify contacts, test the approved intake path, confirm escalation coverage, and review the first completed file before expanding volume.
